Milton Bradleys Federal Game

Ahhh yes, so yet another federal election has come and gone. All the squabble between whose the biggest idiot, whose less of a liar, but most importantly, showing us that democracy in action doesnt necessarily work.

Here in Canada, we vote on a system based on population. Each province has a certain amount of seats in parliment depending on the provinces population. Sounds simple enough. Now, the name of the game for each party in Canada is to win as many seats as possible. Call it, kind of a game of Monopoly. Who can get the most property in order to screw his other opponents. Now the party who wins the most seats becomes the government, and the leader becomes Prime Minister. Think of him as the little Monopoly guy with the monicle and top hat. He pretty much controls most of what happens and (most of the time) has the final say. As for the rest of the parties, they become the opposition. Think of them as the sore losers who have to sit in jail across from the Monopoly guy.

So we got our game set up now: LETS PLAY!

Canada's Government Monopoly!

Now, unfortunately for our system, the winner doesnt necessarily get total control. We can have what is known as "A Monority Government". Basically says that the Monopoly guy won, buuuuuut not by much. Where the government still needs the support of at least one other party from the opposition to get any laws passed at all. Basically, in our game up here, its saying, "how can I get what I want and still keep them from getting what they want." . Think of this situation when your about 2 spots away from your little strip of hotels, but still have to get over two spots that you dont own. You have to convince the guy who owns it not to charge you money. Basically its the same with our laws. You cant win unless someone helps you.

Unfotunately, in the game of Monopoly at least. More often than not, we all end up blowing all our cash on one stupid purchase, and we all wind up having to start over. The purchase that did the Liberals in you ask? The sponsorship scandal.

How about the Conservatives? Are they any better? Hard to say, but give them time, im sure that we'll find something to over dramatise in the next election campaign. Cause the way things are set up now, look for the guys in jail to be planning a way to screw us into, yet, one more election within the next 18 months.

This is Falcon, signing off.
